At the end of Q2 2008, we were directed by the corporate offices to make sure our skills inventory was up to date. I realiz3ed at the time that this information was needed to determine what our strike assignment would be in Q2 2009.
In December 2008, the company announced layoffs, starting then and continuing throughout 2009. I interpreted this as "they would lay off management once the strike was over, since we were not as essential as we are now, based on my experience of being offshored the day I got back from Strike Duty.
Yestrerday, corporate sent another memo saying that they wanted our skills inventory up to date again in 2009. Reading between the lines, this is in preparation for layoffs. This was an update to a previous memo which I don't remember receiving. The update wa that we did not have to enter this data until OCT 2009. So I interpret this as I am safe from a layoff until DEC 2009.
